home lighting

Recently, I drove up to New York to help my mother renovate our house. After spending a few days sanding and painting the walls, we moved on to having the carpeting ripped up out of the living room and then having the hardwood floors refinished. Getting everything out of the living room was a process though. For example, we had to dismantle the chandelier in the dining room without electrocuting ourselves! After everything was moved out, we had a professional company come in to handle the floors being refinished. A word to the wise here: if you're thinking of having your floors re-finished, LEAVE IT TO THE EXPERTS! The floor now looks like brand new and is amazing. Now the next project involves the home lighting around the house. Before I came home, my mom had already gone ahead and taken care of the outdoor lighting around most of the exterior of the house. We still need to put one or two more outdoor lights in the back of the house as well as on the sides. More than likely, these will be motion-sensored to save electricity. My younger brother, mom and I all made the trek out to Lowes yesterday where we looked at everything from ceiling fans to bathroom lighting and more chandeliers. However, my mom seems to be enamored with pendant lighting for the kitchen, so more than likely- that's what we'll probably get. Now the question remains: "What sort of pendant lighting should we get?" |
